First, I want to remind you, that you are not an immigrant or Thai citizen and you will probably never be. So once in a while you have to leave the country, either to make a new VISA or to visit your family back home. Now when it comes to the point where you have to buy a ticket you will have to decide where you stay longer for the coming years: In Thailand or your own Country. You can of course go to Thailand on a 1 Year Ticket, but those are much more expensive than an ordinary 3 month ticket. So, if you stay in Thailand only for let's say 6 month, buy a 6 month ticket at your home country and make sure you don't miss the return flight. This tickets are mostly not extendable. If you really want to stay in Thailand and go home only a few weeks
up to three month, fly to Thailand with a cheep "1 or 3 month
promo ticket" and let the return flight float in the sea.
